Fig & Yarrow Hygiene Kit

Not until I was pregnant at 30 years of age did I ever really stop and think about what I was using for oral care. I assumed that actually brushing and flossing my teeth regularly was good for my health, but when I started hyper inspecting ingredients in everything I came in contact with, I was a little appaled at what I found. Among mainstream dental products you'll find sodium fluoride, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and hydrated silica... and quite a few others. I'm sorry, but I don't need dangerous toxins and chemicals seeping through my gums, into my bloodstream, every day of my life for the sake of a clean mouth...

But I do need a clean mouth, so I began trying every "natural" brand of toothpaste out there, discovering that some weren't so natural after all and some were just really gross. Until recently I'd never stuck with one product very long, that is until I stumbled upon the Fig & Yarrow Hygiene Kit.

I was immediately attracted to the Tooth Powder and Oral Rinse, and figured the Underarm Lotion was just a bonus. And that it is. You guys, I can't stop thinking about the next time I get to use these products - how weird is that? I now have some obsession with cleaning my teeth and rinsing. I suppose there could be worse fascinations, but that's how fun and wonderful these products are to me. And completely safe.

Tooth Powder

If you've ever brushed with a baking soda toothpaste, or just baking soda, you know that distinct taste that comes with it. This tooth powder is mainly comprised of baking soda, so the taste is similar, but it's also somewhat sweet, partly salty and minty and fresh all in one. Baking soda, with the addition of actual sea salt and white clay, helps whiten teeth, aloe reduces plaque, licorice root, myrrh and neem kill bacteria, and essential oils throw down for additional properties and fresh breath. It took me all of 5 seconds to get used to it, and then I was completely sold. I also love that it's a powder, I feel it really scrubs my teeth and gums and removes exactly what it needs to.

Oral Hygiene Rinse

More! More! More! And it's so strange I'm saying that about a mouth rinse, but it's so true. Aloe, witch hazel, hydrogen peroxide, vegetable glycerin and essential oils make for a fizzy, rinsy experience like nothing I've every had. It's potent like a mouth rinse should be, but without that awful alcohol-fake flavor aspect (and chemicals) from other brands. My mouth feels so incredibly clean, my breath fresh, and mouth hydrated with no awful lingering aftertaste. I've now gotten a large bottle for home and carry the small one with me. It's great to rinse after meals and on the go to meetings. I also can't help but feel like the HP is whitening my teeth and truly cleansing my gums. A+ x 1000.

Underarm Lotion

As you've read multiple posts on natural deodorants here on the blog, I'm always happy to try another - and this one takes the top spot on scent. It's DIVINE. Sage, witch hazel, essential oils, coconut oil, baking soda - delivered in a creamy consistency to nourish neglected underarm skin and stave away odors and excessive moisture. I love putting it on right after I shower and seem to have nothing but incredible smelling armpits all night (or all day). I've even put it up to the sweatiest workout and while I did sweat (which you should, its good for you), I didn't stink. When I have some free time I'll put it up to a real longevity test and see how long I can go before reapplying, but for now I do before bed and upon waking or after a shower, and it's working beautifully.

I bought quite a few other Fig & Yarrow items along with the Hygiene Kit so I cannot wait to dig into them further and share with you. I'd always heard such wonderful things about their body scrubs, and I am honestly blown away with the three items listed above. New brand to love, y'all!
